A Bow Tie Guy Bids Adieu

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the Mad Men episode “Waterloo” (Season 7, Episode 7) and don’t want things spoiled, stop reading this.

As Mad Men closed its mid season finale of its last season, the bow tie devotee Bert Cooper died.

However, Cooper and his neckwear required a grand adieu. In order to pay homage to the actor portraying Cooper (Tony Award winning Robert Morse) who has a successful career in musical theater — just check out his performance in the play “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” — he got to sing and dance a farewell to Don Draper. “The Best Things in Life are Free” was the tune Cooper sang.

I’ll miss Cooper. Unfortunately, Harry Crane hasn’t continued his bow tie devotion as Mad Men has continued. I’ll keep up the faith that he’ll fill the sartorial void that’s now present.
